For some years the Foix river in this area has been much cleaner.
In addition, the level of water in the reservoir has remained
high, which has allowed for growth of typical riverside and wetland
vegetation (bulrush boga, reed canyís, poplars,
etc.) this has led to a steady building up of a wide variety of
fauna.
The quality of the water
is fundamental for the life of the plants and the animals that
are food for many of birds. The mallards ànecs collverds,
teals xarxets, moorhens polles d'aigua and other
kinds of birds can be fed on aquatic seaweed, seeds and plants.
Grey herons bernats pescaires, egrets martinets
and kingfishers blauets is based on fish, amphibians
and aquatic invertebrates. In addition, insectivorous birds
like ortolans corriols can be found, sedge-warblers balquers
and the nightingales, that are dedicated to capture larvae,
mosquitoes, worms and other invertebrates.
